Ramadan Day Thirty
(The End of the Series)

Levels of Guidance (9): Al-Il'haam (Inspiration)

(This was partly discussed under at-Tahdeeth. This further discussion shows the demarcation between it and at-Tahdeeth).

The Verses in Suratush Shams where Allaah swore by the ability of the soul to know what is right from what is wrong, due to the Inspiration He gave to the soul; the Verses are very essential here.

Abu Ismaeel al-Ansaaree, the author of Manaazil As-Saaireen, believes al-Ilhaam is the same station as at-Tahdeeth, but that it is a bit above the station of Firaasah (Insightfulness) because al-Firaasah occurs seldomly but not so al-Ilhaam

What is more correct however is that At-Tahdeeth is limited in scope than al-Ilhaam. Every believer possesses one form of Il'haam (ability to do the right thing at a point in time) or the other, this according to the level of their Faith.

As for At-Tahdeeth, the Messenger of Allaah - sallallahu alayhi wa sallam - specifically said if there was going to be anyone that possessed it in this Ummah, then it was Umar bn Khattab (as recorded by Al-Imaam Muslim in his Saheeh).

At-Tahdeeth is therefore a form of limited Il'haam, a kind of sub-revelation (short of sending the angels) from Allaah to other than the Prophets.

For example, Allaah said He inspired (He used 'hauhaynaa') to the mother of Nabee Musa that she should breastfeed him (in al-Qasas, 7).

He the Majestic also said He inspired the Disciples of Nabee Eesa to believe in Him and His Messenger, Eesa.

Even He used to inspire the non-humans, as He said about the bees that He inspired them to build their hives on mountains, trees and human dwellings.

(Other creatures of Allaah such as ants, temites, flies, fish, etc, all acts according to Allaah's inspiration of them).

(With this, we have come to the end of the Ramadan series, we plan to now have the class at least two times a week, and we will continue full fledged in the coming Ramadan Inshaa Allaah. We use this opportunity to once again ask Allaah to reward everyone that contributed towards the purchase of the texts).
