He would quietly sit at any available corner in the masjid and listen to any of us, his seniors, then, speak about the Deen.
One day, he approached me and told me that he wanted to learn from my teacher who taught me Arabic grammar. I directed him to Ustaadh Tawfeeq at Oke-Ada, Ikire. He wasted no time; he began learning from him. Within a short period, he became well-versed in Naḥw and Ṣarf.
He would later play a significant leadership role in the MSSN, Irewole-Isokan. He also served as a teacher to a number of brothers who are prominent figures in the Sunnah today.
This was in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
He later came to OAU, Ile-Ife, for his university degree.
'Alfa Sharif Alamala' was what we fondly called him. He was an expert in slaughtering animals and skilfully butchering them. Ajebi ni.
The last time I saw him was about a year ago at Ikoyi Junction, Osun State. He was very happy to see me and gave me a very warm reception.
About a week ago, I heard that, out of his love for knowledge, he would regularly travel from Apomu to observe his Ṣalātul Jumuah at Green Masjid, Gbàgì, Ibadan.
Tonight, the sad news came that Ustaadh Sharif Husayn Alamala had an accident in Ibadan and died while being rushed to UCH.
His Janāzah will take place tomorrow (26th September), inshā’Allāh.
Please remember Abū ʿAbdil-Mujeeb an-Naḥwiyy in your duʿāʾ. Ask Allah to forgive him, overlook his shortcomings, have mercy upon him, and grant him a place among the righteous.
I am personally deeply pained by this loss.

اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ، وَارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ فِي الْمَهْدِيِّينَ، وَاخْلُفْهُ فِي عَقِبِهِ فِي الْغَابِرِينَ، وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَلَهُ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ، وَأَفْسِحْ لَهُ فِي قَبْرِهِ، وَنَوِّرْ لَهُ فِيهِ.
