Aamir bn Sa'd bn Abee Waqqaas (radhiyal Laahu 'anh) relates from his father who said that the Messenger of Allaah (sallal Laahu 'alayhi wassallam) said:

"Verily, Allaah is Generous and He loves those who are generous; He is extremely Benevolent and He loves the overly benevolent ones; He loves exalted good characters as He hates the lowly ones."

???? - Taareekhud Dimashk (14/289), Saheehul Jaami' (1800).

Shaykh Saamee Muhammad said:

'The overly benevolent (al-jawwaadah) is the one who gives without being asked in order to protect the other from the humility in begging.'

- al 'amalus Saalih p. 376.
