Many learners today are usually beguiled by a false notion of 'being serious at learning' such that they pride themselves over others.

Poor them!

They should rather go and read about how the Salaf of this Ummah sought knowledge and see how weak they (learners of today) are.

One of the ways a serious learner can sustain his will at learning is by constantly reading about the Salaf. The more you read about the Salaf quest for knowledge the more you berate your own learning feat of today. Thus you will never see yourself as learner let alone a scholar which many students freely pride themselves with today.

Below are some of the books you can first read before you start the real learning:

1. Aadaab Taalib Al-Hadeeth of Shaykh Bakr Aboo Zayd - rahimahullah.

2. Aadaab Taalib al-Ilm of Shaykh Muhammad bn Saeed Raslaan - hafidhahullaah

3. Akhlaaq al-Ulamaa of Al-Imaam al-Aajuree - rahimahullah

4. Akhlaaq Wa Sayr Fee Mudaawah an-Nufoos of Al-Imaam Ibn Hazm al-Andaloosee - rahimahullah

5. Adab al-Imlaa wa al-Istimlaa of Al-Imaam as-Sam'aanee - rahimahullah

6. Adab ad-Dunyaa wa ad-Deen of Al-Imaam al-Maawardee - rahimahullah

7. Adab al-Mujaalasah wa Hamd al-Lisaan of Al-Imaam ibn Abdilbarr - rahimahullah

8. Tadhkirah as-Saami wa al-Mutakallim of Al-Imaam Ibn Jamaa'ah - rahimahullah

9. At-Ta'aalum of Ash-Shaykh Bakr Abu Zayd - rahimahullah

10. Taqyeed al-Ilm of Al-Imaam al-Khateeb al-Baghdaadee - rahimahullah

(Inshaa Allaah there are about 20 other books to be mentioned in the next episode)
