Al-Imaam al-Khattaabee - rahmatullaah alayhi - said:
العزلة عند الÙتنة سنة الأنبياء وعصمة الأولياء وسيرة الØكماء الألباء والأولياء، Ùلا أعلم لمن عابها عذرا، لا سيما ÙÙŠ هذا الزمان القليل خيره البكيء دره وبالله نستعيذ من شره وريبه.
'Staying off during Fitnah is the way of the prophets, bastion of the devout servants (of Allaah), path of the wise and the intelligent slaves. I can't find any excuse for whoever berates it especially in this time when there is no much good (in people); a time blessings are scanty. We seek refuge in Allaah from its evil and incredulity.'
Uqbah bn Aamir al-Juhanee - radiyaLlaahu an'hu - asked the Messenger of Allaah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam):
'Where is safety?'
He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) replied:
أَمسÙكْ عليك لسانَك، ولْيسَعْك بيتÙك، وابْك٠على خطيئتÙÙƒ
'Hold your tongue, remain in your house and cry over your sins.'
